A Rising Talent Begins a New Journey
Mason Mushore has arrived at AmaZulu with clear ambition and growing confidence. The 23‑year‑old midfielder, recently capped by Zimbabwe, completed his move from Highlanders and is already settling into life in Durban as the Betway Premiership resumes its second round. His reputation as one of Zimbabwe’s most promising young players follows him into South Africa’s top flight.
Zimbabwean Duo Strengthen Zwane’s Squad
Mushore is the second Zimbabwean addition to AmaZulu this season, joining striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya. Both 23, the pair fit into Arthur Zwane’s plan to refresh the squad with younger, high‑potential players capable of growing into key roles. Their arrival continues a long tradition of Zimbabwean footballers using the South African league as a platform for bigger opportunities.
Inspired by Munetsi’s Climb to the Premier League

While many Zimbabwean midfielders look up to legends like Tinashe Nengomasha and Willard Katsande, Mushore’s role model is Marshall Munetsi. The former Orlando Pirates and Baroka FC midfielder rose from the PSL to Ligue 1 with Reims before earning a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English Premier League. Mushore openly hopes to follow a similar path, using AmaZulu as the first major step toward Europe.
Debut Opportunity on the Horizon
Mushore could make his first appearance for Usuthu when they face TS Galaxy at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday. Zwane’s midfield already includes experienced names such as Bongani Zungu, Mlondi Mbanjwa, and Pule Ekstein, giving the coach several tactical options as the team pushes for consistency in the second half of the season. Zwane welcomed the selection challenge, calling it a “good headache” as AmaZulu aim to start the year strongly.
Eyes on a Bigger Stage
For Mushore, the upcoming fixture is more than a debut—it’s the beginning of a long‑term mission. He hopes to grow his game in South Africa, earn recognition, and eventually secure a move abroad, just as Munetsi did. AmaZulu may have signed a player with the potential to become Zimbabwe’s next major export.
