Morocco Football Coaching Change Confirmed

Morocco entered a new era after Walid Regragui resigned as national team coach. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation announced the decision during a press conference in Rabat. FRMF president Faouzi Lekjaa introduced Mohamed Ouahbi as the new head coach and outlined the federation’s next steps.

Regragui addressed the media with confidence and clarity. He said he served Morocco with loyalty and gratitude. He also said the team needed a new direction before the World Cup. His decision ended weeks of speculation and created a decisive shift in Morocco’s preparation.

Ouahbi Brings Structure, Identity, and Long‑Term Planning

Mohamed Ouahbi accepted the role with a clear plan. He highlighted structure, identity, and development as his priorities. He previously guided Morocco’s youth team to a World Cup title in Chile. That success strengthened his reputation as a builder and strategist.

Ouahbi said Morocco must grow through a defined roadmap. He emphasized performance over individual names. He also stressed the importance of continuity and collective identity. His approach focuses on long‑term progress rather than short‑term reactions.

He wants Morocco to maintain global recognition through consistent results. He also aims to build on the achievements of Moroccan football across all categories.

Morocco Faces a Challenging World Cup Group

Morocco will open the 2026 World Cup against Brazil on 13 June. The Atlas Lions will also face Scotland and Haiti. Ouahbi wants to build momentum early and maintain the competitive spirit that defined Morocco’s 2022 World Cup run.

He plans to strengthen the squad’s mentality and tactical discipline. He also wants to create a balanced team capable of adapting to different opponents. His message remains clear: Morocco must evolve, compete, and grow.
