Zimbabwe’s preparations for the Mukuru Four Nations Tournament suffered another blow after several key players withdrew through injury. The Zimbabwe squad update forced the technical team to adjust plans quickly as the Warriors prepared for the trip to Botswana.
Zimbabwe squad update for Four Nations Tournament
Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya will miss the tournament after picking up an injury while playing for AmaZulu. His absence removes an important attacking option for the Warriors. Knowledge Musona also remains unavailable, extending his spell on the sidelines. Tawanda Maswanhise and Prince Dube withdrew after reporting fitness issues. Maswanhise stayed in Scotland to manage a minor problem from his recent match. The withdrawals disrupted Zimbabwe’s initial structure and forced the coaches to rethink their approach.
Replacements called to stabilise the squad
Zimbabwe moved fast to fill the gaps and maintain balance across the team. Washington Navaya earned a call-up after strong domestic performances. Jarrison Selemani joined from FC Platinum, while Mongameli Tshuma arrived from Highlanders. Godknows Murwira completed the list of replacements. The technical team wanted depth in every position before the tournament began. Zimbabwe will face Botswana in the opening match, while Malawi and Zambia meet in the other semi-final. The new arrivals trained with the squad as the coaches adjusted tactical plans.
Warriors push on despite setbacks
The injuries created challenges, but the Warriors remained focused on producing a competitive performance in Francistown. The tournament runs from March 28 to 31 at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium. Zimbabwe aim to use the competition to assess new players and strengthen combinations ahead of future international fixtures. The coaching staff believe the squad still carries enough experience to compete strongly despite the late changes. The replacements bring energy and motivation, and the Warriors hope to turn the setback into an opportunity for emerging players.
